As an apprentice metalworker, you rotate between DS Elcobyg and DS Stålprofil, as well as spending time, like our skilled apprentice Emil Kirkegård is currently doing, on rotation with the installation team.

He spent the first two weeks of his time with the installation team in Sweden, where he helped build a vehicle workshop and a large office building. This week, Volvo’s new truck centre is the next project.

“It’s great to get out and see what the things you’ve made in the workshop are used for,” says Emil.

At the construction site near Onsild, apprentice coordinator Nuun Ebert Nielsen also manages to stop by. She works closely with the apprentices and is always ready to offer support.

“I prioritise maintaining close contact, and I’m always curious about what they’re working on, so it’s great to stop by when they’re out in the field,” she says.

Next week, Emil will return to production, but his adventure as an installer does not have to end here.

Once he has completed his apprenticeship, he may well be the person you see on the construction site when the large steel structures need to be installed.
