The UN Sustainable Development Goals

How we work with the UN Sustainable Development Goals

The UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals provide a shared international framework for development in social, economic and environmental areas up to 2030. At DS Gruppen, we use selected Sustainable Development Goals as a common framework in our work on social initiatives, skills development and resource management. In particular, we work with Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). We use the Sustainable Development Goals to describe specific things we do – not as proof that the entire company is sustainable. The companies in the group each work in their own way with the same four goals, and that is where we are actually taking action. Below, we describe how our current activities relate to the Sustainable Development Goals. Further down the page, you can read more about each company’s specific work.

Good health and well-being (Goal 3)

Good health and well-being (Goal 3)

When it comes to health and well-being, DS Gruppen supports several organisations that work with the mental well-being of children and young people. We prioritise sponsorships that help children and young people, and through our partnerships with, among others, Hobro IK, Rosendal IK, the AMBU festival, Børns Vilkår, headspace, the Christmas Seal Homes, the Danish Red Cross Youth and the Bindeleddet Foundation, we provide financial support for services offering counselling, communities and support programmes. Through our sponsorship strategy, we support projects that work directly with young people and that, through their activities, give them access to counselling or safe communities.

Quality Education (Goal 4)

Quality Education (Goal 4)

We also focus on learning and skills development. Across the Group, we have activities that give both employees and young people insight into our professional areas. DS Flexhal runs a network group for newer employees, where experience is shared about working life and leadership. At DS Stålkonstruktion, we offer mentoring schemes for interns and apprentices and regularly receive visits from students, so they can see what the work looks like in practice. In addition, DS Elcobyg works with FGU Himmerland on programmes where young people without a job or education can try their hand at tasks in production.

Decent work and economic growth (Sustainable Development Goal 8)

We also work in a targeted way with the working environment and good working conditions. In the DS Group, the working environment is organised into local working environment groups that make decisions close to day-to-day production. We provide training for new employees and work continuously to prevent accidents. DS Stålkonstruktion is certified to ISO 45001, which shows that we work in accordance with an international standard for occupational health and safety management. In addition, we continuously look at new technology, including within digital measurement and scanning equipment, which can support our work processes.

Responsible consumption and production (Sustainable Development Goal 12)

Responsible consumption and production (Sustainable Development Goal 12)

Three of our companies have their own production facilities, and we therefore also work with resource consumption and environmental management. Both DS Stålkonstruktion and DS Stålprofil are certified to ISO 14001, which sets requirements for a systematic approach to environmental work. DS Stålprofil uses, among other things, GreenCoat® steel from SSAB, where the coating partly contains bio-based components. At DS Elcobyg, we work to reduce concrete waste where possible, including through more precise calculation methods and by participating in the steering committee for the Sustainable Concrete Initiative, where the industry collaborates on new knowledge and development within concrete construction. In 2025, DS Elcobyg also took part in a research project with other concrete companies to investigate alternative binders for cement and assess the potential to influence concrete’s climate footprint.
