Emil Kirkegaard Pedersen has nominated DS Stålkonstruktion for “Apprenticeship Placement of the Year 2024” at Mercantec in Viborg

I would like to nominate my apprenticeship placement because:
DS Stålkonstruktion is an exciting company with many different departments, which also gives me, as an apprentice, the opportunity to go out and try lots of different things.

I started my apprenticeship just before the summer holidays in 2024, and I have already been around quite a bit.

DS Stålkonstruktion has an apprentice co-ordinator who is there for me, and she has been since day one, even since I had my interview at DS. She also visited me at school before my start date at the company. She is there for us every day. She handled the introduction, she plans my programme and moves me around as needed, and according to what fits with school. For example, right now I am in another department within the group because I will soon be starting my H1 course. So she has sent me down to learn bending and cutting machines, so that I am well prepared for H1.

At DS there is also, as something new, the opportunity to go on exchange. I think that is exciting.

At DS we are quite a lot of apprentices by now, so we also get on well together and have built a good sense of community. Our apprentice co-ordinator makes sure that we have the first break together. She holds joint meetings with us, organises team-building to bring us closer together, and at the moment she is planning an outing for us.

I like being here. You learn something, but also that DS thinks about us and our apprentice co-ordinator, who is there 100% for you with everything!

It is reassuring to know that she follows you from start to finish.
