I’m really pleased to have started at DS Stålkonstruktion as a blacksmith apprentice.
I approached DS because it is a large company, and after I had been to an interview and on a tour, I had no doubts.
I like the idea that there is an apprenticeship coordinator who follows you from day one until you are fully trained. That gives a huge sense of security.
Even though I’m quite new, I feel I’ve been made very welcome. All the apprentices get on well together. Our apprenticeship coordinator is worth her weight in gold. She is also the one who moves us around, so that we are not in the same place for too long at a time. You really feel that she knows us all and plans each training programme according to the individual.

Some want to go on exchange, others do not, and there is room for that.
At DS, we also have many skilled mentors, all of whom can teach you something new, so you do not feel that you only have one mentor, but the whole of DS.
I like my apprenticeship because of the apprentice community; we have someone who knows you and is there just for you.
I would definitely recommend becoming a blacksmith apprentice at DS. DS has something no one else has: we have our apprenticeship coordinator.
