John Johansen is a foreman in production at DS Elcobyg, and he has been employed for 17 years (2025)

When I started at Elcobyg, I did not know the industry at all, but I am really pleased that I took the leap. Much more technology has been introduced into production, including welding robots, mesh welders and jib cranes, which make the work both easier and more precise. We have also gained more international colleagues, who make a strong contribution to everyday work.

What I particularly enjoy is that no two days are the same. There is no serial production, and I am constantly working with different moulds, so there is always something new to get stuck into. At the same time, the working environment and good colleagues mean an enormous amount, and that is something you should not take for granted.

Get the opportunity to launch new projects

I started as a caster in hall 1 and gradually took on more responsibility with the setting-up of moulds. In 2018, I became foreman in hall 5, where I learned a great deal from Hubert at the beginning. Today, I find it exciting to be a foreman, because I also get the opportunity to help launch new projects, such as when I took part in the FEAS project for DS Flexhal. It is the development and the specialist tasks that make the work especially motivating.
