Mads Thirup Nielsen is a Quality Specialist at DS Stålprofil
The most exciting part of my work at DS Stålprofil is helping my colleagues perform at their best. This can be through discussing how we handle a specific problem, but especially by developing our systems so that they become more efficient and so that we can spend our time on the “right” things. I find that there is a great deal of freedom to develop our operations, both through streamlining processes and by developing new solutions.
Ultimately, it is about delivering products that live up to the customer’s expectations, as well as our own.
Both personal and professional development
When I started at DS Stålprofil, I came from a completely different industry than the steel world, and therefore I have developed both personally and professionally by getting to know new products, concepts and standards. Fortunately, I have good colleagues who have helped me and who have not corrected me too much when I did not know the right terms. At the same time, there is a good dialogue about development opportunities: if you have the interest, and it creates value for DS, then there is a great deal of freedom. That is why I am studying at Aarhus University alongside my job.
One of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences during my time at DS Stålprofil was when we went on a company trip to Hamburg. The trip offered both professional content and social time with colleagues. It was a really good trip, where we also talked about things other than work and got to know each other a little better. That also means there is more to talk about in the canteen, and in that way we create a sense of unity across the organisation.
