I think that DS has “kept up with the times” and continuously become more modern and international. Generally, DS has become involved in more markets and has departments in several countries. And the sale of DS to GOLDBECK has naturally also meant that we have gained many new colleagues from many different countries.

A team of good people

The primary reason why I am still at DS is, first and foremost, that I have always had good colleagues around me. It is lovely to be part of a team with good people. Furthermore, the work tasks themselves – and thus the challenges – have of course also developed continuously. When I started in 1995, the use of PCs in the finance department was still relatively new, and today almost everything is digitalised. The transformation from pencil and paper to the current digital level has been very educational and exciting.

I started as a trainee in the finance department at DS Stålkonstruktion under the expert leadership of Brian, who is now the Finance Manager at DS Elcobyg. Svend Møller Hansen was the Managing Director at that time. Because I came straight from business college, my knowledge of bookkeeping was limited, so I had to start from scratch. Fortunately, in my eyes, DS has always been a company where there is room to develop professionally, and it has always been easy to find competent finance staff internally to bounce ideas off. I have made great use of this over the years, and I will continue to do so.

With pencil and paper

As mentioned earlier, a great deal of the work was done with pencil and paper when I started in 1995, so everyday life today looks somewhat different than it did before. It has naturally been a continuous development, with many small steps taken along the way. Because almost everything is digitalised today, there are also good opportunities to work from home, which naturally was not an option previously. However, it is not something I use very much, because I enjoy coming into the office and having that daily face-to-face chat with good colleagues.
