Valdemar Stavsholm Tonsberg did an internship as energy manager at DS Stålkonstruktion
Today, Valdemar is employed as a QHSE Environmental Data Specialist in the QHSE department at DS Stålkonstruktion.
Last week (autumn 2023, ed.), I had my final days as an intern at DS Stålkonstruktion A/S, where for 10 weeks I worked on, among other things, data collection and processing related to the company’s energy consumption, tasks in preparation for energy management, as well as waste handling.
For more than 50 years, DS Stålkonstruktion has supplied steel structures for both small and large construction projects. It has been instructive to see how sustainability work in a larger production company takes place in practice, and what I myself could contribute.
I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with topics I’m interested in, and the high degree of responsibility that DS Stålkonstruktion gives its employees, even when you’re an intern.
But it can also be hard to stop when you’re having fun…
That’s why I was glad to be able to continue as a student assistant in the QHSE department while I wrote my bachelor’s project, which was written in collaboration with DS Stålkonstruktion.

Further education as Qualified ECO EPD Officer
After his internship at DS Stålkonstruktion, Valdemar was permanently employed in the role of QHSE supporter. He has since completed a qualification as a Qualified ECO EPD Officer alongside his full-time job. He is therefore now a QHSE Environmental Data Specialist and can help both internally and externally with the selection and application of EPDs, understanding of environmental data, as well as requirements and documentation in projects.
